New Rule for Technology related Phone Calls

Internet crime is becoming increasingly sophisticated, so we're implementing a new rule for phone calls.

If anyone calls and asks to get connected to your computer or install anything, politely say "no", hang up and call them back by dialing a number you know is correct. Don't just hit callback, but make sure you're dialing the real number.

Always call them back.

It's become too easy for criminals to spoof a phone number and make it seem like you know the person calling. And it won't be long before they use AI to mimic a voice you recognize.

A criminal can call, make it seem like the call is coming from my number and then pretend to be me.

If they get in, you're at risk of them stealing your all your data and holding it for ransom.

Be the person making the call, not answering it.

We're asking everyone to please get into the habit of doing this anytime anyone calls asking to get into your computer, install anything or for any sort of identification or security information.

When you're the one making the call, you're helping ensure that you're talking with the real person.
