Domain Trust Troubleshooting

DOMAIN TRUST ISSUES
  • Unable to contact domain controller
  • The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed
  • The following error occurred attempting to join the domain
  • The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted
  • An Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for the domain "COMPANY.local" could not be contacted
  • The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authentication
  • This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller
  • There are currently no logon servers available to service this logon request.
  • Often DNS related
  • Often related to network configurations
  • Often related to problems with TCP/IP properties

ON WORKSTATION
  • Check Network cable
  • Check Network Adapter settings
    • Check IP settings
    • Check all Advanced settings
  • Check Time
  • Disable/Enable Network Adapter
  • Disable/Enable "Microsoft File/Print" on NIC
  • Rejoin the Domain

ON SERVER
  • Check Network Adapter settings
  • Check Time
  • Flush/Scavange DHCP Server
  • Flust/Scavange DNS Server
  • Ensure 016 DOMAIN SERVER is correct in DHCP Scope
  • Ensure "DHCP Server" service is running
  • Ensure "DNS Server" service is running
  • Ensure "WINS Server" service is running
  • Ensure "NetLogon" service is running
  • Check Server Event Log


Try dcdiag.exe

Try using PowerShell to
   Reset-ComputerMachinePassword [-Credential ] [-Server ]

Try using netdom.exe to reset passwords
